From grant proposals to screenplays: I've loved writing for as long as I can remember.

songs & lyrics

I write song lyrics in both Dutch and English. Sometimes I perform them myself, but I also enjoy writing for people who can actually sing.

screenplays

I love movies and I like the constraints that are imposed by the format.
I've written a couple of shorts (including a romantic comedy, a dark fairytale and a Children's christmas movie) and also finished a feature-length coming of age drama about first loves and letting go, set against the backdrop of the first moonlanding and the Loma Prieta earthquake. In my head, I cast a thirthy-something Laura Linney in the lead.

I'm currently working on a historic drama about the great female scientist Caroline Herschel that will be directed by Emma Thompson some day.

non-fiction

In addition to my academic papers, I also write and publish book reviews, columns and opinion pieces.
